Our guided fly fishing excursions, including rod, gear and permits, average $500 for two guests. These experiences, especially the white water rafting option, are great for group team building events. The Lower Deschutes River is one of the premier fly fishing rivers in the Pacific Northwest. For most of our one-day trips we'll leave the resort and drive to Warm Springs, about an hour and twenty minutes from Brasada Ranch. We'll then drift east about 10 river miles and end at Trout Creek, also just over an hour from the Ranch. Trips may be arranged March through December. This is the premier trip for those fishing in Oregon.
The McKenzie River is an Oregon classic. It is one of the most beautiful rivers in the state—a fast moving mountain freestone that runs through lush forests, campsites and parks, and alongside the quaint summer cabins that line its banks. There is a nice mix of native Redband trout, stocked Rainbows, Westslope Cutthroat Trout and an occasional Bull Trout or Whitefish here. The McKenzie is an excellent dry fly river, at times producing good hatches and terrestrial activity. You will also fish many types of nymphs to try to match the abundance of naturals drifting in the currents. We offer wade fishing trips in the upper reaches and drift boat trips through the Middle and Lower rivers. Trips can be arranged mid-March through October.
The Crooked River is our original walk and wade spot and we've been guiding here for many years. The Crooked is a classic desert tailwater, offering fishing nearly year round. The water runs low throughout the winter but in the spring the flows from the reservoir jump to a perfect level for great summer and fall angling. This tailwater can offer outstanding days any month of the year. We keep a close eye on the fishing so we are always prepared for the good days.
The Upper North Fork of the Santiam River is another great walk and wade spot. It runs through a thick forest of lush green foliage. In the summer, water runs low and clear and trout are usually pretty cooperative. Trips can be arranged from the start of June to the end of October.
The Fall River is a classic Spring Creek with glassy currents and gin clear water. It is a true spring creek and requires a perfect drift to fool selective trout. Hatches vary throughout the year—expect fishable hatches nearly any day of the year. Terrestrial and streamer fishing can also be productive on the Fall River. We fish this river year-round here, walk and wade only.
The Upper Deschutes can be broken into two sections. The section above Crane Prairie Reservoir is a true mountain stream and great for walk and wade trips. Loaded with trout and mountain whitefish this is a great spot for a fun day. We often fish attractor dries with a small nymph as a dropper. Fishing begins in early June and lasts through October.
The Upper Deschutes below Wickiup has some great wade fishing , but it's best floated in a drift boat. There are some really big Brown Trout in this area but they don't come easy. Streamers and attractor dries are always fun through this section of river, but be prepared for excellent mayfly and caddis hatches too! Trips may be arranged May through mid-October.
The Cascade Lakes offer great fishing throughout the season. At Crane Prairie you might hook the largest Rainbow of your life on a Chironomid under an indicator. East Lake offersamazing Callibaetis action all season. Davis is a tremendous Largemouth Bass fishery. Lava Lake and Little Lava are frequently all-stars and Hosmer is a unique fishery that every angler should experience.
